Progression Opportunities

After college there are a lot of progression opportunities that will be available to me. The most popular opportunity being to carry on in education. There is a Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design that Grimsby Institute have to offer, although this is only a further education course it could be beneficial to me as it would allow me to further develop my art skills without having to go away from home to a university that offer a fine art course.

Moving onto the higher education opportunities, Grimsby Institute offer a BA (Hons) Design course, although this is a great opportunity after discussing it with tutors I don't think that this course is for me. There is more graphics and computer based activities which will not benefit the career I am heading for. Another course they offer is BA (Hons) Special Effects Make-up Design and Prosthetics, this is a course that I am very interested in. I took part in a tour around the facilities and really took a shine to the amazing things the students were doing and creating. The course is a definite opportunity for me although I have other plans in mind. Of course there are other higher education opportunities at other universities such as Fine Art at University of the Arts London, University of Leeds or Sheffield Hallam University; but with a house and a partner in Grimsby it wouldn't be ideal for my home life.

Another opportunity that would be available is employment or an apprenticeship, these opportunities would benefit my personal life with a home and a partner. Bringing an income into the household would benefit us greatly, and learning along side it would be even better; but his is not something I'm hoping for. The last opportunity I am going to discuss, is the one that I'm aspiring for. This is to open my own business, with a business plan in mind, a lot of support from family and friends, and an eye for success, my main aspiration after college is to go down this route.
